If you’re hungry for more environmental resources on
the Internet, there’s a new World Wide Web site that’s sure to keep
you connected – in more ways than one. The Wild Rockies Slate,
launched into cyberspace last December, features up-to-date
information on the issues, organizations and ecology of the
northern Rocky Mountains. A project of the Wild Rockies Information
Network (WIN) of Missoula, Mont., the Slate brings together
environmental news and commentary from sources scattered throughout
the region. The new site focuses on “issues that are critical to
protecting biodiversity, wilderness, and restoration of ecosystems
in the Wild Rockies Bioregion.” Although the Slate says it’s still
evolving, it already includes news, an activist resource page, and
electronic links to the home pages of regional environmental
groups. It may also serve as a model for other bioregional
organizations seeking to develop an Internet
audience.
