I received my first copy of High Country News a few days ago and it is every bit as good as you said it would be, only better. I must declare that I was not too happy with the cover, however (HCN, 6/25/07). Too bad I did not meet your lion hunter in ‘Nam. I could have turned him into a fine resemblance of human Swiss cheese on full auto with my M-16. Oh well, we can’t win them all. Hope my combat humor does not offend or upset anyone.

I have camped most of my life in New Mexico and am happy to report that I have been attacked by four different animals. All the incidents were my fault. The animals won, and I lost. Even so, I never hurt any of the attacking animals. I am very proud of this.
