Jim Stiles’ stereotyping is nothing less than ignorance in its purest form (HCN, 3/21/05: A look at the West, in the funhouse mirror). Mr. Stiles, as a journalist, you should know better. It takes but one person to make a change in the world. One woman chose to ride at the front of the bus, one man stood fearless in front of a tank at Tiananmen Square. Use your profession to initiate change. Promoting simple-minded prejudices and stereotypes does nothing but set back your cause 10 steps for every one step that one of your peers makes.
