“I’m a disillusioned environmentalist. I’m disillusioned with the way environmentalists took things into their own hands and pushed something like (the Desert Protection Act) through. Congress signed off on something it had never seen; the boundaries were just slapped on (members’) desks. I don’t think that’s a good way to make public policy. I’m a lifetime Sierra Club member, and I’m really embarrassed.”
