WILD WATCHING IN NEVADA

Nevada has joined the “watchable wildlife” program that is spreading across the West. A new Nevada Wildlife Viewing Guide, written by Jeanne Clark, describes viewing spots around the state that recently have been posted with the binocular symbol of the “watchable wildlife” program. Guidebooks in this series list viewing areas by region within each state. The guidebooks are small enough to sit comfortably on a dashboard and light enough to drop into a day pack. Spectacular wildlife sightings aren’t guaranteed; it may be necessary to sit quietly for hours at a time. Nevada is home to more than 680 species of wildlife, including more federally listed threatened and endangered species than any other state.

The Nevada Wildlife Viewing Guide is available through sporting goods stores or by contacting Falcon Press, P.O. Box 1718, Helena, MT 59624 (800/582-2665). Paperback: $6.95. Illustrated with maps, photos and sketches.
