The Coast Starlight train runs daily from Seattle to Los Angeles. The Empire Builder runs from Portland and Seattle connecting to Spokane and Chicago and has coach and sleeper car options.  Amtrak Cascades offers coach and business class between Eugene Oregon and Vancouver, British Columbia. Your article sounded like an advertorial for some private sector bus services.
